Our “Web Guy”
One of the best things about owning a surf school here in Wilmington is meeting some incredible people along the way. Yesterday I got a chance to have lunch with one of my favorites, Richard Perry.
One of my favorite things about our surf school is our web-site. Although it has remained the same in terms of style, logos and look, over our 7 years in business it has evolved into an incredible part of our program. We constantly get compliments about our web-site every year. To me our web-site is more than just an instrument of our business. It tells new customers that “Indo Jax” is synonymous with “quality.” More importantly it signifies a very special friendship of mine.
The first thing I did when I decided to start Indo Jax Surf School was to meet with Richard Perry of Akira Media Designs. Richard is our “Web Guy” and one of my best friends. Richard put together a simple but very effective and beautiful web-site. He worked with me every step of the way and soon became a good friend of mine. Over time I’ve gotten to know his wife Lisa, another wonderful person, and Connor their son, one of the coolest kids I’ve ever met.(photo above taken by Richard of Connor his son) Richard has gradually improved and updated our web-site as our business has grown. He’s been a supporter of our charity and takes most of the photos of our surf camps and charity surf camps and events. His son has surfed in many of our surf camps and is a member of our surf team and volunteer crew. He’s been with us through good times and rough and has always had great advice for us personally and for our business. Richard is one of those guys that makes you feel like you’re a better person just for knowing him. I look forward to many more years working with Richard and enjoying a friendship with him and his family.
Being able to work personally with Richard on the web-site has been an incredible experience for me. As a teacher, I knew nothing about marketing or business. Richard has walked with me every step of the way, teaching me how to grow “smart” and to keep things in perspective. He, not being a surfer, has taken the time to learn our business so that he can help us effectively. Working with Richard has been one of the most rewarding parts of running Indo Jax Surf School and Indo Jax Surf Charities. Thanks Richard!
