What an event last night!  That was truly incredible.  The turnout was amazing, estimates for the evening came in between 300 and 400 people.

We raised a good amount of money that will go directly to the outreach surf camps we do with medically fragile, special needs and at risk youth.  It will go to scholarships for children who otherwise couldn’t afford or wouldn’t have the opportunity to give surfing a try. It will go to help support other surf charities that come to Wilmington.

More than the money collected is the show of support for what Ocean Cure is doing.  These camps are growing fast.  We want to continually improve what we offer, so Indo Jax needed your help.  That’s why we started Ocean Cure, to give others an opportunity to help us continue this effort.  It is why Ocean Cure’s motto has become “You, Me, We.”  We feel that we all must band together to take care of those who need a little extra help or a boost in life.  Our surf camps, surf lessons, and surf clinics for special needs people provide that opportunity.

Thank you for coming out in support of Ocean Cure!  Thank you to Rob and Mellow Mushroom for providing the venue and the donation!  Thank you to Spencer Carlson, The House Band, and ‘Shine for providing the entertainment!  And thank you to all the sponsors.  You all truly made this a night to remember and a night for Ocean Cure.

I just wanted to thank you for the time you’ve put in with my son Tommy. For years we’ve been trying to find something that will help develop an identity for him. I think he has found it in surfing.

Here is a video our daughter Molly made of today’s session with you guys. We’ve watched it over and over, enjoying his moment and looking forward to the next time he gets out there again.
